About Gary
Gary heard about chess from a friend and decided to give it a shot. He doesn't really understand the rules yet — he just moves pieces and hopes for the best. He doesn't know what a fork is, thinks the queen is just a fancy rook, and sometimes forgets whose turn it is. Playing him is like watching a toddler solve a Rubik's cube.
Playing style
Effectively random move selection. No strategy, no tactics, no plan. Just moves that look interesting in the moment. Almost every game features multiple blunders and surprising reversals.
How to beat Gary
- Plays aggressively and looks to attack — offer trades to defuse the initiative rather than let the position stay sharp.
- Weaker in simplified positions — trading down into an endgame favors you if you have even a small edge.
- Prioritizes attacking the king — keep your king safe and avoid loosening the pawn shield in front of it.
- Very structure-conscious — provoke a pawn weakness early and it will matter for the rest of the game.
- Tends to steer into ECO A00 structures — review these in the opening explorer before you play.
How to interpret the displayed ELO
The number is a Ferzia training target, not an official FIDE rating or a claim that one game predicts a human result. Stockfish documents why engine ratings depend on match conditions and large samples; FIDE publishes separate regulations for ratings from registered over-the-board results. Historical-persona copy is a stylised product characterisation, not a biography.
