Time Budgeting

Time budgeting is deciding, before you calculate, roughly how long a position deserves — then spending that and moving on. Give the sharp branching points your minutes and the quiet or forced moves your seconds. Practising a fixed budget per position trains the reflex that saves you from time trouble.
