About Aron Nimzowitsch

Aron Nimzowitsch never became World Champion but changed chess more profoundly than most who did. He wrote "My System" — the most influential chess book of the 20th century — and proved that you did not need to occupy the centre with pawns to control it. Provoke your opponent to advance, then blockade the pawns and strangle them. Chess has never fully recovered.

Playing style

Hypermodern and prophylactic. Nimzowitsch invites pawn advances, then blockades them with pieces. He controls space indirectly, restricts the opponent's pieces systematically, and wins in the endgame from positions that look passive but are actually suffocating.

How to interpret the displayed ELO

The number is a Ferzia training target, not an official FIDE rating or a claim that one game predicts a human result. Stockfish documents why engine ratings depend on match conditions and large samples; FIDE publishes separate regulations for ratings from registered over-the-board results. Historical-persona copy is a stylised product characterisation, not a biography.
