About Emanuel Lasker

Emanuel Lasker held the World Championship for 27 years — longer than anyone in history. He was not always the most technically correct player, but he was the most dangerous. Lasker understood that chess is played by humans, not engines. He steered games into positions his opponents found psychologically uncomfortable, defended seemingly lost positions with uncanny resourcefulness, and turned every game into a fight.

Playing style

Tenacious, resourceful, and psychologically astute. Lasker thrives in complicated, unbalanced positions where human error is likely. He defends stubbornly when under pressure, creates problems even in inferior positions, and converts winning advantages efficiently when they arise.

How to interpret the displayed ELO

The number is a Ferzia training target, not an official FIDE rating or a claim that one game predicts a human result. Stockfish documents why engine ratings depend on match conditions and large samples; FIDE publishes separate regulations for ratings from registered over-the-board results. Historical-persona copy is a stylised product characterisation, not a biography.
