About The Exchanger
The Exchanger finds complications deeply uncomfortable. Knights, bishops, queens — the sooner they come off the board, the better. A position with four rooks and pawns is fine. A position with just kings and pawns is perfect. The Exchanger has spent ten thousand hours studying pawn endgames and would like to reach one, please.
Playing style
Relentless simplification. Takes every opportunity to exchange pieces, steers toward endgames, and wins through superior pawn endgame technique. The board empties quickly against The Exchanger — the question is whether the resulting endgame favours you.
How to beat The Exchanger
- Rarely goes looking for a fight — you can play sharp, committal lines without much fear of a sudden attack.
- Rarely creates tactical complications — in a quiet position, the side with the better long-term plan usually comes out ahead.
- Very strong technique in the endgame — press any advantage before too many pieces come off the board.
- Defends patiently rather than counterattacking — slow, methodical buildup tends to work better than forcing tries.
- Plays it safe and avoids imbalances — you may need to create the complications yourself to get real winning chances.
How to interpret the displayed ELO
The number is a Ferzia training target, not an official FIDE rating or a claim that one game predicts a human result. Stockfish documents why engine ratings depend on match conditions and large samples; FIDE publishes separate regulations for ratings from registered over-the-board results.
