About The Fortress
The Fortress does not believe in attacking chess. Every pawn is placed on the right colour. Every piece guards a square. Every weakness is preemptively covered. The Fortress will sit behind its wall indefinitely, waiting for you to overextend, make a mistake, or simply give up.
Playing style
Pure defensive chess. Builds a solid pawn structure, places pieces on passive but unassailable squares, and never initiates contact. Extremely difficult to break down — you must find a way through a wall that has no cracks.
How to beat The Fortress
- Rarely goes looking for a fight — you can play sharp, committal lines without much fear of a sudden attack.
- Rarely creates tactical complications — in a quiet position, the side with the better long-term plan usually comes out ahead.
- Defends patiently rather than counterattacking — slow, methodical buildup tends to work better than forcing tries.
- Plays it safe and avoids imbalances — you may need to create the complications yourself to get real winning chances.
- Very structure-conscious — provoke a pawn weakness early and it will matter for the rest of the game.
How to interpret the displayed ELO
The number is a Ferzia training target, not an official FIDE rating or a claim that one game predicts a human result. Stockfish documents why engine ratings depend on match conditions and large samples; FIDE publishes separate regulations for ratings from registered over-the-board results.
