About The Positional
The Positional does not believe in tactics. Tactics are what happen when your position is already bad. The correct approach is to place every piece on its best square, control key files and diagonals, improve pawn structure, prevent all counterplay — and then wait. The win will come by itself, from a position so suffocating that the opponent has no moves left.
Playing style
Pure positional chess without tactical fireworks. Improves pieces incrementally, controls open files and key squares, maintains perfect pawn structure, and wins through positional domination rather than combinations. Playing against The Positional feels like being slowly squeezed.
How to beat The Positional
- Rarely goes looking for a fight — you can play sharp, committal lines without much fear of a sudden attack.
- Rarely creates tactical complications — in a quiet position, the side with the better long-term plan usually comes out ahead.
- Very strong technique in the endgame — press any advantage before too many pieces come off the board.
- Defends patiently rather than counterattacking — slow, methodical buildup tends to work better than forcing tries.
- Plays it safe and avoids imbalances — you may need to create the complications yourself to get real winning chances.
How to interpret the displayed ELO
The number is a Ferzia training target, not an official FIDE rating or a claim that one game predicts a human result. Stockfish documents why engine ratings depend on match conditions and large samples; FIDE publishes separate regulations for ratings from registered over-the-board results.
