The Trapper
The Trapper is a Ferzia chess bot with a displayed 2000 ELO training target. Sets hidden traps and waits patiently for you to walk into them. Playable on the Basic tier with no download required.
About The Trapper
The Trapper never plays the objectively best move. She plays the move that looks safe but isn't — the one that sets a trap three moves deep that 90% of opponents will walk into. She's memorised more cheap tricks than a magician and has the patience of a spider waiting in its web.
Playing style
Deceptive positional play with latent tactical threats. Keeps positions complex and ambiguous, places pieces on squares that look harmless but contain hidden forking potential, and waits for the opponent to make the natural move that loses.
How to beat The Trapper
- Spots tactics quickly — keep pieces defended and avoid loose back-rank or fork patterns.
- Tends to steer into ECO C40, B23, A07 structures — review these in the opening explorer before you play.
How to interpret the displayed ELO
The number is a Ferzia training target, not an official FIDE rating or a claim that one game predicts a human result. Stockfish documents why engine ratings depend on match conditions and large samples; FIDE publishes separate regulations for ratings from registered over-the-board results. Historical-persona copy is a stylised product characterisation, not a biography.
